Smarter Planet Series: Making 'smart traffic' the norm

"Traffic congestion is synonymous with Malaysia, especially in the Klang Valley, and traffic jams, if not managed correctly, can hurt the socio-economy of our country..."Smart traffic" is not yet the norm, but it is not some far-off vision of tomorrow. In many places, IBM is helping to make it happen today."

  1. Hello Anggun, I have left Malaysia 22 years ago...used to experience horrible traffic jams at Pudu road, Federal highway when it rains.
And in town on my last trips back, it was horrible to see cars double parked, blocking traffic....thus causing the congestion.

Malaysia does need all that 'smart traffic'....all it takes is for the police to take no prisoners.
    Thats all.
Where I am, we get 250,000 new immigrants every year and a lot behave like where they come from where driving is concerned.

But they sure learn fast....our cops don't take prisoners.
Try double parking? Or parking at a no parking place, etc....within 10 minutes your car is towed away to a pound. $375.00 to get it out, add $275.00 fine for obstructing traffic....and it is not a joke.

Block an intersection when lights are red, no excuses, $275 fine!
Of course we still have the hard nuts, but 2nd offence lose their lisence, habis cherita. They learn.

Malaysia needs cops who don't take prisoners....and you will have good traffic. Bet you even with IBM coming to help, its a waste of money...
    the drivers have to learn.

Have a nice day, best regards, Lee.
ps, love your songs here. Makes me want to stay, ha ha.

  2. hello Uncle Lee..yes, I hate double parked and blocking traffic.. even worse, when the driver is actually inside the car, waiting u dun know who and can simply be ignorant to the traffic mess he/she created..i dunno where all these ppl put their brain.. sigh..

another thing is that, malaysians are not afraid of fines..government can impose million $$ fines, but since if we can simply pay $50 to the police to drop charges.. then it's like useless also..

agree that, how smarter pun our traffic.. it's the drivers and the police that need to be 'smarter' as well..

    p/s: have a nice day to u too..n enjoy the songs..hahaha
